Shawn Bixler, MA, LADC

Shawn Bixler MA, LADC is planning to take the NCMHCE examination in the coming months for LPCC licensure. He received his Bachelor's of Science in Allied Health - Addiction Studies from the University of South Dakota. He also completed his Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of South Dakota, with emphasis in Addiction Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, Sociology, and Criminal Justice.

His practice focuses on the mental health of adults, specifically with depression, anxiety, neurodivergence, hoarding, gender dysphoria, body dysmorphia, co-occurring addiction/mental health, and personality disorders.

Although he uses many therapeutic treatment modalities in their practice, he has been extensively trained in the therapeutic approaches of DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), CBT (cognitive behavior therapy), and REBT (rational emotive behavior therapy).

He has worked in the addiction and mental health fields for over 20 years, both as a clinician and as a program administrator. He enjoys working with clients who have felt marginalized, discriminated, misunderstood, or otherwise ignored, including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, neurodivergent, and individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
